CSA is a way to reconnect families and individuals with the farms in their local communities. CSA is a refreshing commitment to local agriculture considering that most produce in our country travels 2100KM while our own neighborhood farms are often unable to survive. CSA members support the farm by buying a share of the years harvest. Members pay for there share in advance, providing capital for operating expenses such as seeds, utilities, greenhouse supplies, etc. When the harvest begins in late June members can pick up the their share at the farm once a week or meet in Smithers once a week. Members become more connected to the land by eating seasonally and by seeing how weather effects the crops. An early frost may kill off the Summer Squash but might sweeten up the fall Spinach!

We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm, and strongly committed to sustainable sustainable agriculture. We never apply chemical herbicides, pesticides or toxic fertilizers to the land. "Sustainability" encompasses a wider range of issues than those addressed by organic certification. These important issues include efficient use of water, energy, and farm resources, as well as biodiversity and the economic viability of our small family farm.

Each week we take a survey of our fields, and we harvest the crops that are at their peak and ready to be picked. We pack the produce into trugs for every member and have them ready for pick up on appointed days. Our harvest season runs for 18 weeks. from the end of June until the end of October. We at Lauriston Farms will act in good faith to provide fresh Naturally Grown produce for the 18 week season. There is no guarantee of quantities or contents of weekly share.

Our shares are a bountiful week's supply of veggies. A share usually includes 6-10 different items. As a member you can experience the benefits of eating what is freshest when it 's in season, from spring greens like Arugula and spinach to early spring tomatoes , and pac choi. We do our best to provide all the basics like onions, carrots, potatoes, cucumbers, cauliflower, radish, beans, and broccoli, we also like to introduce new varieties like eggplant, and heirloom tomatoes.

STAY INFORMED! The single most important responsibility of all members is to educate themselves about the workings of our CSA program by thoroughly reading through the website and reading the weekly CSA newsletter posted every week on our site. The newsletter contains important information about what will be in this weeks box, news about the farm and details about the harvest.

PICK UP YOUR SHARE! As a CSA member, you must pick up your share on your chosen pick-up day during the pick-up times. To ensure the freshest produce we will only harvest prior to your designated pick-up day. Please choose from one of our two available pick-up days. You must pick up your share on the day that you have chosen each week. If you can not pick-up your share, you are welcome to have a friend or neighbor pick-up your share that week. Please just e-mail or call us with their name. Our goal is to have you enjoy your share each week, we will work with you each week if you give us a enough notice. If you do not pick up your share and make no arrangements to have someone else to pick it up for you, then you forfeit your share that week and it will be donated to local charities. There is no refund for unclaimed  shares.
